Why I object to the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration rules for commercial drivers

This article confirms what I've always known about my physical reaction to pollens in the air and should lead one to acknowledge that synthetic air pollutants as well effect one while driving during heavy traffic periods, and perhaps even more so.

I am compelled then to question the derivation of the FMCSA's and AMA's assumption that sleep apnea is the primary cause of drowsy drivers and accidents when it is clear that immediate environmental conditions are more likely the culprits.

Medications however, according to this article, do not alleviate the effect on drivers experiencing the allergic response so of course the pharmaceutical industry can't benefit from this... nor is industry likely to acknowledge that vehicle gases are to blame. No the onus is back on the driver who must surely have a defective body and poor sleep conditions since "drowsiness" occurs during the daylight hours.

I object therefore to the new rules for commercial drivers that appear only to single out and disqualify or financially burden overweight individuals and snorers!
